The Los Angeles County Department of Forensic Medicine on Friday released examination reports for the nine victims of the January plane crash that killed Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna.

Two days after the crash, the coroner confirmed that blunt trauma was the cause of death for all nine. It said the manner of death was an “accident.”

The helicopter was taking its passengers to Bryant Mamba Sports Academy when it crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California, on a morning when there was heavy fog. There were no survivors.

Other victims included Orange Coast College head baseball coach John Altobelli; his wife, Keri Altobelli; their 13-year-old daughter, Alyssa Altobelli; Christina Mauser, basketball coach at Harbor Day School in Newport Beach, California; Payton Chester, Gianna’s basketball teammate; and her mother, Sarah Chester. Pilot Ara Zobayan is also deceased.

A preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board for February found no evidence of engine failure. Despite the large number of facts, it did not draw any conclusions as to the cause of the accident. A full report could take 12 to 18 months.

NTSB member Jennifer Homendy said the plane was descending at 2,000 feet per minute at the time of the crash, “so we know it was a high-energy impact crash.” She said investigators are looking at, “but not just focusing” on the weather as a possible cause of the crash, and noted that “there was no criminal aspect to this investigation.”

The coroner’s case status for all nine victims is now closed.

Bryant’s death has resonated in the sports world. Tickets to the memorial service at Staples Center were sold out, and his widow Vanessa, Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal performed, as did Beyoncé, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera.
