The University of Wisconsin and the police department have launched an investigation after personal photos and videos of the women’s volleyball team were posted online that should not be made public.
The Badgers Athletics Department released a statement Wednesday afternoon saying it contacted the UCLA Madison Police Department after a student athlete discovered a photo she had taken had been posted on social media.
“UW Athletics is aware that personal photos and videos of UW volleyball students that should not have been made public have been shared digitally.

“Unauthorized participation is a serious and unwarranted violation of student-athlete privacy, including possible violations of university policy and criminal law.”
“Federation Police are investigating a variety of crimes, including the distribution of secret photographs without consent.”
The photos and video were allegedly taken after the team won the Big Ten title last November. In one of the photos, several team members are said to be wearing sports bras. The photos were private and have never appeared in public.
Most of the photos were taken from the Internet. UW Athletics said: “Our first priority is to support student-athletes.”
The University of Western Australia women’s volleyball team is currently ranked fifth in the nation with a record of 13 wins and three losses.
